More Toyota jobs, this time in Alabama

October 15, 2011 Leave a comment

One thing that has always irked me especially ever since adorning the Toyota emblem across my chest is the whole buy American ideology.  It’s not that I’m against buying American even, but rather I dislike how it is sent towards Toyota vehicles, because the truth of the matter is that Toyota is and has been for a long while one of the most predominant American-made vehicles in the automotive industry.  In fact, this is a big part of why Handy Toyota of St. Albans, VT is so proud of every Toyota Camry we sell to our Burlington area customers, because the Toyota Camry is actually the Most American Car based on its production location, percentage of American made parts, and sheer quantity on our roads.  Take that so-called domestics.

In all seriousness I get it:  Toyota is “made” in Japan, therefore it is not a domestic.  But regardless of all the previous information, one thing is abundantly clear:  Toyota Motors USA cares about US jobs.  Literally thousands of people from across our great nation are employed by Toyota, and for that we at Handy Toyota of St. Albans, VT salute you big-T.  And today we are happy to report that Alabama has just had a new I4 engine facility opened as part of the $147 million Toyota has recently dumped into US jobs.

How many jobs, you ask?  Try a grand total of 240, which isn’t half bad.  Am I stating that Toyota’s engine plant in Alabama is going to cure the job woes of this country?  Of course not.  But between this plant and the few that opened previously, I once again tip my hat to Toyota for putting a dent in that seemingly unwavering unemployment number.

The new Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama plant is actually expanding in a sense, as the new I4 engine facility is an extension of a plant that’s been in operation for over 10 years.  This new I4 engine, used in such vehicles as the Toyota Rav4, will help the Canadian effort to push out Rav4s and the upcoming Rav4 EV, the all-electric variant that is soon to release.

Said Alabama Governor Robert Bentley:

“Now, ten years [after Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama's (TMMAL) opening, we have] made a major economic impact in this region.  TMMAL is an enduring, reliable and dedicated partner in building healthy communities in Alabama which can, in turn, strengthen our nation and our world.” -Toyota In The News, “Toyota Kicks Off I4 Engine Production In Alabama.”  toyotainthenews.com, October 13, 2011.

Finally, take a look at what these new 240 jobs will have a part in building.  Who knows… maybe they’ll be building your next engine.

Parents Name 3 Toyota Vehicles Best Family Car

August 9, 2011 Leave a comment

I’ve said it before and I’ll surely repeat it again in the future – and that’s because it’s a fact – but being an employee of a Toyota dealership in Vermont either means one thing or puts this notion in most of your minds:  I’m trying to purvey vehicles.  And truthfully folks, I don’t overly deny it.  I’ve said before that I loved Toyota vehicles forever as they’ve always been reliable, safe, low cost, etc., etc., but I again I can say this all day and you’ll still be jaded, assuming I’m saying it out of my love for a paycheck.

So that’s why today I’m happy to report and independent, family-driven website has concurred with that which I spew forth frequently, giving three Toyota vehicles their “award” for Best Family Vehicle.  Parents.com, a website that (obviously) caters to information for parents-to-be, houses forums for parents, and so forth, has named the following vehicles the best for families:

  • 2011 Toyota Rav4, crossover SUV category – This is the 5th consecutive year Parents.com has named the Rav4 their best choice for the crossover SUV category, and with a new style, plenty of safety features, and even a healthy dose of power for the parent’s day off from their children (if there ever occurs such a phenomenon), you know the Rav4 is ready to be your family friendly friend.  Better yet, the Rav4 comes with an available third row for those of you with bigger families, and plenty of cargo area for trips to the beach, sledding voyages, or hockey games.
  • 2011 Toyota Sienna, big car/minivan category – Honestly, what’s not to love about the world famous Swagger Wagon?  Featuring all the trim levels you could desire from the low cost base model all the way to the luxurious Sienna Limited, you can get anything you want in the Sienna like widescreen LCD television screens to play DVDs, touch screen navigation, room for 8 passengers, and much more.  Further with a beefy V6 engine you can be sure all those kids, snacks, gear, and DVDs will be carried away with ease.
  • 2011 Toyota Prius, best family car category – The Prius wins for what is essentially the best of the best; let’s face it, the “best family car” category in the Best Family Car award series pretty much seconds itself.  But then, of course, why wouldn’t it win?  48 mpg highway, 52 mpg city, combining for 50 miles per gallon in a time when gas is fluctuating around the $4 per gallon mark; amazing crash test ratings as per the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS); options galore like leather, alloys, navigation, CD players, satellite radio, and much more; put this and the rest together and you have a clear front runner for my nomination as well.

So there you have it:  an external, family-centric source naming three Toyota vehicles best in show.  Now all you have to do, if you’re a family man or woman, is get into Handy Toyota where we have all three of these great Toyota vehicles ready to go in various trim levels and with tons of customizations available if desired.  For more on these three vehicles (or any other), click here to view our inventory, click one of the vehicles above for direct links to their listings, and click here to send us an email now.

Specials Update for August 2011 at Handy Toyota

August 9, 2011 Leave a comment

For those of you who follow the Handy Toyota happenings almost exclusively via Facebook or Twitter, I apologize, but I need to explain this again for our blog subscribers.  Last month I said something like “wow, I’ve never seen so many specials at Handy’s!” or something along those lines, but I assure you my foot is placed firmly in my mouth.  Speaking of foot-in-mouth, you and I both know I should know better than to ever say anything of the sort, because I always tend to resort to eating toes the following month.  This isn’t a gripe mind you; I just want to get the point across that this is a serious amount of specials, which of course benefits you, the customer, because you have deals galore from which to choose.

Before we get into the plethora of different specials categories for this month’s sales event at Handy Toyota called Toyota’s Nationwide Clearance Event (with a name like that I should have seen it coming, right?), allow me to show you these two images.

Below is image number one, which shows you an average month’s worth of New Toyota Specials, i.e. purchase specials, and Toyota Lease Specials:

Keep in mind that I took this picture on the edge of my desk, and that piece of wood (the desk) is exactly a half inch thick.  Now let’s take a look at this second picture which shows this month’s stack of specials:

Okay, so maybe now you get the idea I’m trying desperately to convey:  there are absurd amounts of vehicles ready to drive off the lot at crazy, Toyota Clearance-style pricing.  Now let’s take a look at some of the categories and where you can find them.*

A 2010 Deal of a Lifetime

Before we get into the heart of the amazing deal we at Handy Toyota have for you today, folks, let me first apologize with a slight lack of weight behind said apology.  You see you have to agree it isn’t often that I use the blog to throw deals at you; in fact, I’d go on a limb as to say it’s pretty rare.  But once in a while I do and generally it’s simply because the deal in question is too great to pass up talking about, and today is one such day.

So what is the big deal you ask?  Like I said, this is something I’ve never seen in my time here at Handy’s, but the sales crew wants to treat you all to a Fourth of July celebration that will last well past the holiday, and as far as I can tell this is one hell of a way for us to pay our respect to the nation we all love.

Introducing the biggest collection of 2010 Toyota vehicles in the northeast:  2010 Toyota Corolla sedans, 2010 Toyota Matrix hatchbacks, and 2010 Toyota Rav4’s are literally piling up in our driveway, and we took the hit to our already not so spacious lot for you folks.  But the sheer volume we have on our 39 South Main Street lot in St. Albans, Vermont isn’t even really the “deal” of course.  That honor belongs to an astonishing finance offer put forth by the Handy Toyota sales team.

Because right now on all 2010 Toyota models, most of which lie within the three models aforementioned, qualified buyers can get financing as low as 2.9% APR for up to—and get this weird yet excellent time frame–63 months!  That means you get three extra months when compared to just about any other advertised finance rate, which will lower your monthly payments obviously, and a great finance rate to compliment the car loan period.

Finally, and perhaps best of all, these 2010 Toyota vehicles are largely unchanged when compared to their 2011 brethren.  In other words the Rav4 and Corolla received full model overhauls a couple years ago and are still within their “current” style, so there is really not much difference when you look at a 2011 or 2010–aside from the price of course.  These beauties are priced to move, and with a finance deal this great you’d be crazy not to take a second glance at your new vehicle needs.  Also, you might have noticed I didn’t mention the Matrix; those of you who are well versed on your Toyota models know that the 2011 hasn’t even come out yet, so really there is no “last model year deal” stamped across these vehicles as they are in fact current model year vehicles in reality.

From here you have a few options as to how you want to proceed, so for simplicity I’ll list them below.  Just click one of the following links that seems to suit you best.

I hope to see you all taking advantage of this once in a lifetime offer soon!
